Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 12, 2026
1. Introduction
Waldemar Szemat ("we", "us") operates the website szemat.pro (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit our Site. We are committed to respecting your privacy and complying with applicable legislation, including the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018, and Chile's Personal Data Protection Laws 19.628 and 21.719.
2. Data We Collect
This Site is an informational personal portfolio. We have no registration forms, user accounts, or direct personal data collection mechanisms. The only data collection occurs through:
- Google Analytics 4: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the Site, processed server-side through Cloudflare Zaraz. This service collects anonymized data such as pages visited, visit duration, device type, operating system, browser, country/region of origin, and referral source. No Google cookies are set in your browser — analytics data is processed at the network edge before reaching Google.
- Server technical data: Our hosting provider (Microsoft Azure) may automatically log IP addresses, browser type, and access timestamps as part of standard server logs.
- Cloudflare: Our Site uses Cloudflare as a content delivery network (CDN) and security provider. Cloudflare may process IP addresses, user agents, HTTP headers, and connection data to provide DDoS protection, bot management, and performance optimization. Cloudflare also provides cookie-free web analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) that does not require consent and does not track individual users.
3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
In accordance with the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) and applicable local legislation, the Site processes analytics data server-side through Cloudflare Zaraz, without setting third-party cookies. This allows us to:
- Analyze traffic patterns and Site usage.
- Understand which content is most relevant to our visitors.
- Improve the user experience.
On your first visit, you will see a consent banner where you can accept or reject analytics. If you reject, no analytics data will be collected. Your choice is saved and you will not be asked again.
Additionally, Cloudflare may set essential functional cookies (such as __cf_bm) required for bot management and Site security. These cookies are strictly necessary and do not require consent under applicable legislation.
You can manage your analytics preferences through the consent banner on this Site. Since analytics are processed server-side, browser-based cookie controls do not apply to this type of data collection.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
We process the described data under the following legal bases:
- Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): To analyze Site performance and improve its content.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): Where required by local legislation, we will obtain your consent before activating analytical cookies.
5. International Data Transfers
Analytics data is first processed by Cloudflare, Inc. at the nearest edge location, where IP addresses may be anonymized before being forwarded to Google LLC for analytics processing. Google may process data in the United States or other countries and complies with EU Standard Contractual Clauses. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy and Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
6. Data Retention
Google Analytics data is retained for a period of 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. Cloudflare Zaraz does not retain analytics data independently. Server logs are deleted according to Microsoft Azure's retention policies.
7. Your Rights
Depending on applicable legislation, you may have the following rights:
- GDPR (EU/EEA): Right of access, rectification, erasure ("right to be forgotten"), restriction of processing, data portability, objection to processing, and not to be subject to automated decision-making.
- UK GDPR: The same rights as the EU GDPR, applicable to UK residents under the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Laws 19.628 and 21.719 (Chile): Right of access, rectification, cancellation, objection, and portability regarding your personal data, under the updated data protection framework.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details provided in the contact section.
8. Security
The Site is served over HTTPS with TLS encryption, and strict security headers (Content Security Policy, HSTS, X-Frame-Options, among others) are implemented to protect the integrity and security of your connection.
9. Third-Party Websites
The Site contains links to external platforms (LinkedIn, GitHub, Microsoft Learn, among others). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these sites. We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of each external site you visit.
10. Children
This Site is not directed at individuals under the age of 16, and we do not intentionally collect personal data from minors.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date of the last update is indicated at the top of this page. We recommend reviewing it regularly.
